BOOKTUBE-A-THON WRAP-UP!!

Booktube-A-Thon Wrap-Up!

I read six books for Booktube-A-Thon, and 1,797 words! I switched out a book that was on my TBR with another book because I put "The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight" on hold at my library, and instead it was some book called "Crazy Rich Asians"...but anyways here are all the books I read for the read-a-thon!

_________________________________________________________________________________

The first book I read was The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson, which is the second book in the Remnant Chronicles. I have no words to describe how much I absolutely loved this book! I think it might be better than the Kiss of Deception for me, but I still love the first one! I gave this a full 5 stars on Goodreads, and I cannot wait for the last one! The ending for this book was the worst cliffhanger ever!

-♥-

After that I read Slammed by Colleen Hoover. This book was a little weird for me at first, because i'm not that into poetry, but after I got used to the poetry thing, I started to like it. I didn't love it though so I only gave it 3 stars out of 5. I've never read anything like this before, so it was really nice to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

                                         -♥-

Then I read The City of Ember: The Graphic Novel by Jeanne DuPrau. I didn't read the actual book before I read this, like I probably should have, so I only gave it 2 stars. I think if I would have read the book I would have enjoyed this a lot more.

                                                                          -♥-

After that I read Magonia by Marie Dahvana Headley. I hate to say bad things about books, but I did not like this book at all. I really tried to like it, but it was just not my kind of book. I thought the concept was really interesting, and I loved the cover obviously, but I think it was a little to weird for me. Like the part where she ate the bird and then it lived it her lungs, and the skin thing at the end...I just couldn't do it. I did like the characters though, and I didn't know I cared about them that much until I started crying when bad things happened them. I gave the book 2 stars.

                                         -♥-

The next book I read was Selp-Helf  by Miranda Sings. I think Miranda is hilarious so I obviously loved her book. I gave it 5 stars!

                                          -♥-

The last book I read was The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest by my favorite author ever Melanie Dickerson.
This is a Fairy Tale retelling of "Swan Lake" and "Robin Hood". I will read anything if it's a fairy tale retelling! I will also read anything if Melanie Dickerson wrote it! All of her books also talk about God and share the gospel, which I love! I adore this book and I gave it 5 stars! I can't wait to read her next book The Golden Braid which is a Rapunzel Retelling!

So that's all I read for Booktube-A-Thon! I don't have a booktube channel, but I just thought it looked really fun to do, so I did it. :P If you participated in Boktube-A-Thon put your channel or blog in the comments and I'll check it out!

Booktube-A-Thon 2015 TBR

Heyyy!
I am going to be participating in the Booktube-A-Thon this year! This is my first read-a-thon ever, so I'm super excited! Here's my TBR!

1. Read a book with blue on the cover.

For this one I chose The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson. I don't know if it counts as blue, but it's close enough!

2. Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name.

My last name starts with a C so I chose Rook by Sharon Cameron. I'm doubling up with challenge 6, which is read a book you really want to read. :)

3. Read someone else's favorite book.

I'm reading Slammed by Coleen Hoover, which is one of LovelyLikeLaura's (from Youtube) favorite books.

4. Read the last book you acquired.

The last book i got was The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest by Melanie Dickerson. I am super excited to read this! Melanie Dickerson is my favorite author ever!

5.Finish a book without letting go of it.

For this one i'm going to be reading a graphic novel because it will be pretty easy to read in one sitting. It's called The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPRAU.

6. Read a book you really want to read.

Like I said before I'm doubling up with 2. :)

7. Read seven books.

I already have 5 books so I just need two more.

So the two that I picked are:

The statistical probability of love at first sight by Jennifer E. Smith

 and

Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley

That's a lot of books to read in one week, and I probably won't be able to read all of them, but I'm going to try! I'll do a wrap-up next week!

                                See you then!

May Wrap-up

May Wrap-up!

Hey! This month I read 6 books!
I was in a bit of a reading slump this month so I didn't get to read as many books as I hoped I would, but that's ok! Hopefully I can read more this month :)

_________________________________________________________________________________

Before I get started I just want to tell you about Thrift Books. This is a website where you can get used books really cheap! I get almost all my books from there. Some of the books obviously look used, but if you don't mind that then you will probably love Thrift Books! I got three books this month for only $12.74 with free shipping because the order was over ten dollars! If you want to check it out click here!

I am not sponsored by Thrift Books....I just want to everyone to read books for cheap money xD

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The first book I read this month was The Merchants Daughter by Melanie Dickerson. This is the second book in a fairy tale retelling series but you can read them out of order like I did. :P
This book was a retelling of beauty and the beast. If you didn't know it was a fairy tale retelling you probably wouldn't have known it was beauty in the beast. It was its own book. I really liked it, except for the fact that it was kind of slow in the beginning, but it got better towards the end.
This wasn't my favorite in the series so far, but The Fairest Beauty, the third book in the series, was one of my all time favorite books in the whole world!
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars. :)

     ____________________________________________________________________________

Next, I read An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.
This book was sent to me by Penguin. :) I don't even know where to start to explain how good this book was! I absolutely LOVED it! The characters and plot were amazing! I love how much Laia changed towards the end. I was convinced that Elias and Helene were going to be together, and Laia and...what's that guys name? Kenner...? I don't know, well that just shows how much i didn't care about him. I absolutely loved Elias and Laia together! That part when Elias follows Laia and Izzi out to the Moon Festival, was my favorite part of the whole book because they all got to be normal and free for that one night. And that part where they danced.....it was beautimous.
I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The third book I read was The Elite by Kiera Cass.
I don't know what to say about this book. WHY DOES AMERICA HAVE TO BE SO STUPID?!?! She is so stinkin' annoying!!! The most cringe worthy part of the whole thing is when she wears both of their bracelets....when she put maxons on her other wrist i felt like throwing this book out the window and then running over it with a semi truck. I was very upset at this point. I'm going to stop talking about this, because it is making me very mad. I did like The One better, but I will talk about that later. I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

     _________________________________

Then I read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass. I really like this book! Everything was so perfect! I liked how funny Celaena was! I loved Dorian and Chaol too, and to be honest I don't know which one i like better. I love Dorian because because he's so cheeky, but I like Chaol because he knows how to fight and he gets Celaena better. I don't know I would be fine with either one. The king is so stinkin' creepy!! I think he's like working with magic and then somehow later on he's going to do something with it to take over the world. I do not get Kaltain and her headaches! Was Perrington doing something to mess with her head? I am so confused! I LOVED this book so I gave it 5 out of 5 stars!

Next I read Beauty and the Beast from the Faerie Tale Collection, by Jenni James. I don't know if it still is, but I got this book free on the Kindle App!
There wasn't really anything special about this book. It was your typical Beauty and the Beast story. I still liked it though, it was a really quick, easy read. If you adore Disney, like I do, then I think you would really enjoy this book! I gave this 3 out of 5 stars.

     _____________________________________
                                                        I LOVE THIS COVER!!
The last book I read this month was The One by Kiera Cass. This was definitely my favorite of all three books. There was so much more to the story than America trying to decide between her two cheaties. I don't want to get into any spoilers, but I'll just say the end was so epic!! I was not expecting that to happen!  Ok, I can't help myself I have to talk about this spoiler! SKIP TO THE NOT RED PART IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK!

Ok....It was so obvious to me the whole time that maxon and america were going to end up together, but at the end when he took the bullet for her and he was like dying under the table or whatever. And then when she wakes up in the hospital and she's looking everywhere for maxon, and that guy tells her he's not there, and she starts crying becuase he's dead. I seriously thought he was dead!! I was hyperventilating! But then Aspen tells her that he's not dead, and then lucy comes in....Oh my word, all the feels! I love how it ended. It was perfect!

Ok, sorry about that. Anyways I loved this book so much! So I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

My April Wrap-Up/ May TBR

Hey!

So, before I write everything else, I'd just like to say that nobody reads my blog....so I'm basically talking to myself on the internet...

and that's really weird...

Anyways... Here is my April Wrap-Up:

  • The first book I read last month was Gaijin by Matt Faulkner.

This was the first ever Graphic Novel that I read! It was OK. I mean it wasn't my favorite book in the whole world, it was an OK book, in my opinion.
( This is really random, but the word opinion looks like the word onion, and I'm laughing so much right now. It's 1:46 A.M. I might be delirious.)
Anyways, i gave this book 3 out of 5 stars on Goodreads!

  • The next book i read was We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.

This book blew my mind and I have no words.
The reason I gave this 3 out of 5 stars is because It made me depressed for the whole two days after i read it...that is the worst reason ever. I'm going to go give 4 stars on goodreads,
and keep it as 3 stars on here
for the sake of no confusion.

  • I also read This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith.
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars, but I did this as soon as i finished the book. I'm going to keep at 5 stars even though, as of right now, that's not the rating i would give it. This is the kind of book
that you absolutely love
until you're done. I didn't really connect with any of the characters, but I loved the story, and I will probably re-read this.

  •  I also read all three of books from Stephanie Perkins contemporary series thing. Anna and The French Kiss, Lola and The Boy Next Door, and Isla and The Happily Ever After.

I loved every single one of these books, but Lola and The Boy Next Door was my favorite out of them.

The reason for this is because of Cricket. I'm pretty sure that he is my No. 1 book bae ever. HE'S SO STINKIN' PERFECT!!!!

I rate this series 4 out of 5 stars. I am definitely going to re-read all of these books.

  • Next I read Paper Towns by John Green.

I actually have a somewhat embarrassing story about this book.
I get most of the books i read from the library, because I don't have a job, ( I'm 16 btw ). So I was reading this book at the dining room table, because i had to start school, ( I'm also home schooled ).
I usually read in my room, on my bed, but i wanted to be able to take breaks from school and read. This was a mistake. I hid the book underneath my school books so that nothing would happen to it....this was a terrible place to hide it, and also a very stupid idea.
My brother put dog hair on my sisters head, and she got very mad.
This led to her accidentally knocking over a glass of water on the dining room table....this glass of water was next to my school books.
The book got wet....
I had to pay lots of fines....
I hate having to pay fines at the library, because i always feel like the librarians are judging me for not returning the book on time, or for ruining the book.
That sounds so stupid, now that I've typed that.

Well anyways. I really enjoyed this book. It was so funny, and happy, and sad, and amazing!
This was the first John Green book I've ever read, and it was really good except for the fact that there was TONS of bad language.
I personally don't like that, so that was the only thing that made me not appreciate the book as much as I could have.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars on Goodreads!

  • I read If I Stay by Gayle Forman.

I really liked this book! It took me a while to read it, because I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so I had to keep taking breaks from reading so i wouldn't freak out that my whole family would get in a car crash and die.

I gave this book 5 outta 5 stars.

btw...I also loved the movie.

  • And The last book I read last month was The Selection by Keira Cass.

I liked this book, but there were things i didn't like about it too.
I loved the world and the story line, but
I didn't like how America was like being a cheaty with all her boyfriends. Prince Maxon had a reason to
be a cheaty, but she didn't. And she was ticking me off whenever she did that, and i have a feeling the whole next book is going to be like this.
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars
for reasons just explained. :P

So....That was all the books i read last month.

For the TBR....

I don't know what I'm going to be in the mood to read later on this month, so i usually decide
later.

You can add me on Goodreads, to see what I'm reading throughout the month.

Right now I'm reading An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I will probably either write about it when I'm done, or put it in another one of these
wrap-ups.

So that's all I have to say...

This is awkward.

I don't know how to end it..........

BYEEEEE!!

ADD ME ON GOODREADS!

p.s. Sorry for the cheesy star picture things...I will try to find something better! :D

Insurgent Movie Review (SPOILERS)

My Thoughts

I really liked this movie! I really liked the idea of the box. It made the movie so way more interesting to me.

I was SO excited when i heard they were going to put Uriah in insurgent! Keiynan Lonsdale was the perfect Uriah. Oh my gosh, i loved him so much!

That one scene when they're in Candor and they have to go to trial, with the truth serum, was exactly how i imagined it while reading the book.
In the book Tris and Four fought so much, it got annoying to me, so I'm glad they didn't put that in the movie...

I think we can all agree that Peter is absolutely amazing! He was so funny and perfect, and everything wonderful. :P I loved the part after he saves Tris and her and four are reunited and Peter is just standing there awkwardly, behind them. It was hilarious!

Caleb...AH! He's such an Idiot! I forgot how much I disliked him, since i had read the book. The part that made want to slap him across the face most is when Tris is in the sim, and he's just like "oh she's dying we better get her out...". It made me SO mad!!

I love how the Divergent movies, and books end. Unlike the hunger games, where it leaves off at the worst time possible (Katniss... there is no District 12) , you leave happily. Although Insurgent ended kinda badly, it wan't terrible. I don't know how i feel about Evelyn killing Jeanine. Although it was Epic, I wish Tori would've done it like in the book.

In the end, the movie was almost as perfect as the book and I rate it...

                                5 stars!!!

The Kiss of Deception (non-spoiler review)

Summary

In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia's life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight--but she doesn't--and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom--to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive--and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets--even as she finds herself falling in love.

My Thoughts

Oh my goodness! I loved this book SO much! I don't want to spoil anything so all im gonna say is....PLOT TWIST! It blew my mind!
I loved how it changed perspectives, It wasn't like allegiant, (I kept forgetting who's perspective i was reading, because Four and Tris both told the story the same) I could always tell who's perspective i was reading from.

I was reading the amazon reviews and this review explained everything i was feeling, I'm not going to put the whole review in because it was pretty long, but the beginning was perfect xD

"Holy crap, batman. This book, y'all. It's like this crazy hodgepodge of things all smushed together in a neat little ball that totally came at me and knocked me down. It's fantasy, but it's more. It's a romance, but it's more. It's just a lot of good things. Except one thing. The love triangle, but more on that later. Let's return to the gushing.

You know whenever a main character just has it? (As if I know what it is. I clearly do not have it.) That's Lia. As I read The Kiss of Deception, I was practically decked out in a cheerleading uniform complete with pompoms. Lia is a great protagonist. She's the type that I hope younger girls look up to. Lia worked for this story, and this story worked for Lia." -
Kristen @ Pretty Little Pages

I think that pretty sums up this book! Except for some swearing, and some violence, its still a great book and I really loved it!

I rate this book  5 stars! :D

Welcome to My Blog!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Amy, I am a Christian and I love Jesus! I also love music! I play the piano and the ukulele, I love animals, and reading (obviously :P)

I just recently started reading a lot last year. I never read any of the Divergent books, but after I watched the movie I decided to try and read them, and I loved them. Now I'm really into reading, and I wanted to make this blog so i could talk about books with other people who also enjoy reading!

Most of the time I will be writing book reviews, but once in a while i will write Movie Reviews too (I might need to let my fangirl out after I watch Insurgent!)

That's pretty much all i have to say! Have a Fantabulous day!!!

Byeee!
